Session #1
Developing an Export Business Plan Participants will learn about strategies and important tips that will help their business to enter  the international marketplace. This session will cover the overview of the export process, which includes potential benefits, costs, and risks, as well as prioritizing and developing export markets and determining market entry strategies.

Morning Breakout Session #2
Real World Challenge and Success Stories of Exporting U.S. Products (from California)
Hear firsthand from California exporters at various levels of their international engagement. They 
will share their views and vision on success and how it can be achieved based upon their personal
and business experiences. Hear about the challenges they have faced and how they have overcome 
obstacles.

Morning Breakout Session #3
Finding Reputable International Buyers
Learn how to find, establish and maintain strong relationships with foreign buyers and help you 
expand into international markets.

Jump start your relationship with foreign buyers and begin to build your brand in overseas markets. 
Find out about available resources that will introduce you to new markets and foreign buyers.

12:45 PM – 2:00 PM             Afternoon Breakout Session #1
Getting Paid: Trade Finance and Insurance

This session will provide participants with an increased knowledge and awareness of the many 
financing options available to them.

This session will assist the participant’s understanding of trade cycles and the inherent risks, 
documentation, trade terms and funding requirements, as well as cover balancing risk between seller 
and buyer, selecting international payment methods, using trade insurance to protect against 
default and financing your export growth with extended credit.

Afternoon Breakout Session #2 Arranging Documentation and Logistics
This session will discuss important tips and guidelines when preparing for export documentation and 
export shipping. Learn about the role of the freight forwarder, how to negotiate freight rates, 
export packing and labeling, cost and benefit analysis.

Afternoon Breakout Session #3 Consulate General session
Hear from various Consulate General Offices to discuss important tips and guidelines on how to do 
business in their respective countries.

2:15 PM – 3:30 PM               Final Breakout Session #1

Port and Airport Resources – The Ideal Platform for Exports This session will introduce small to 
medium size, minority, veteran and women-owned businesses to export resources and services, with 
the goal of assisting their entry in international markets. This will be done through summarizing 
the basics of exporting, including costs, risks and steps involved.

Businesses and entrepreneurs attending will have the opportunity
to meet the speakers and ask questions surrounding key topic areas in the development and growth of 
your exporting strategy.

Final Breakout Session #2
Legal Do’s and Don’t’s in an International Sale
This session will cover what export companies must do in order to ensure compliance with local 
country export regulations as well as
U.S. Export regulations. Participants will learn about the role o of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) 
and Rules of Origin, how to protect intellectual property (Trademarks and Copyrights), as well as 
negotiating export terms and sales and reducing export risk with
incoterms.
